Gertie the phone-stealing gizmo

We often unconsciously reach for our phones.

Even when intending to focus, it’s easy to reach for the phone you just set down in search of a distraction. Nearly half (46%) of U.S. adults over age 18 report spending 5-6 hours per day with their smartphones, excluding work-related tasks.*

How might we create a gizmo that provides nudges to break this cycle?
