I’m a designer, engineer, and innovator with a passion for understanding how people relate to the material world around us. I’m interested in creating objects and experiences that help us live more frugally and joyfully within planetary boundaries. My specialty and interests lie in where the scientific and industrial world rubs up against human behavior and decision making, often specifically engaging with systems design, sustainable materials, and manufacturing. I am relentlessly obsessed with learning; both theoretical frameworks and applied technical knowledge. My practice and my career are highly interdisciplinary, and I am equally at home conducting academic literature reviews, running user research, coding data sets, operating heavy machinery, and speaking to the public. I fundamentally believe that each of these skills makes me better at the others, and that in order to solve truly massive problems, we must think across and outside traditional disciplinary boundaries. 

My design practice in its current form emerged out of study at Imperial College London and the Royal College of Art, and I founded a company called Carbon Cell based on work I started there. I began my career in social science, working in brand strategy and consumer research, helping large companies launch innovative products and understand user behaviour. This understanding of storytelling, psychology, and how people process and store information has informed my design practice and how I think about the relationship between the physical world and the world of ideas, emotions, and desires that drive us all.
